ABOUT US

The seed for our business was sown in 1960 with the start of United Anesthesia, Inc., by a group of physicians who provided anesthesia care to patients in Parkersburg, WV. As the practice grew, the physicians incorporated in 1976 as Associated Anesthesiologists, Inc. Some physicians in the group wanted to provide chronic pain management services in addition to operating room anesthesia. In October of 1990, a subsidiary corporation, Pain Management Center, Inc., was formed. As of January 1, 1998, the group changed its name to United Anesthesia, Inc. and now has 9 anesthesiologists and 18 nurse anesthetists.

To handle our growing needs, the business office of the group set out to find a new information system. After an extensive search, IDX Systems of Burlington, VT was chosen. IDX, (now GE Healthcare), was selected with a future option in mind to be the core for more than an anesthesia billing system. We wanted to be able to provide services to other physicians who were interested in maintaining their independence yet have the advantages of up-to-date information and management systems.

In the fall of 1997, we began Physician's Business Office as an independent medical billing and physician practice management company. With over 30 employees, working both at our home office or at customer facilities, we currently service clients throughout West Virginia and Ohio.
